Animation Workshop

A fun 3-day workshop creating art, making new friends & learning new things. Early Registration is advised
Video Valentines 10am-3 (or Fractured Fairy Tales…your choice)
8 Children Maximum Prior animation experience is not required.
An introduction to classical animation with cut-paper techniques for the young and the young at heart. (parents/grandparents are welcome to attend -ask about our tuition package deal)*
Geared for children who enjoy drawing and exploring art materials. The program begins with a group sharing and “brainstorming” to spark imagination and creativity. Daily film screenings include the history of animation and a broad sampling of short films by international animators.
A frame-by-frame capable, digital video camera is used to approximate classical film animation technique but with the added speed, immediacy and flexibility of digital video. Post production editing and mastering of copies is accomplished after the last formal class. Tapes are available for participants within several days. All materials will be provided. Please bring some of your best drawings or other artwork to share with others on your first day, healthy snacks and a bag lunch.
*8 children max and however many parents is fine. 1/2 tuition for adults accompanying a child. Other adults welcome, but full cost.
About the instructor :Deb Vendetti is the librarian at the Appleton Village School and part of a teaching team for the early language readiness program. She holds a BFA in Painting and Drawing; graduate studies in Photography. Deb has conducted award-winning animation workshops since 1991 at the Farnsworth Art Museum, Maine Coast Artists, Round Top Center for the Arts, Lincoln Street Center, and U Maine, Orono. She is also involved in an ongoing project to document the visual artists of Maine.
